King Charles brings together faith leaders at Buckingham Palace to discuss challenges and cohesion

The King has heard from faith leaders around the UK about the challenges faced by their different communities.

His Majesty was joined by members of different faiths at a special meeting at Buckingham Palace.

They discussed the issues they were facing as well as how they are working together to foster cohesion and stronger bonds.

Inter faith work has long been a focus for The King and he often meets different faith leaders and faith communities. As Advent began, His Majesty attended a special Coptic Church service.

The final act of King Charles III’s Coronation in May was a greeting from a group of faith leaders who spoke to him as he left Westminster Abbey. His Majesty returned their good wishes in his first greeting as a crowned Monarch.

And one of the first acts of his reign was his promise to maintain the Church of Scotland. This pledge was made at the Privy Council meeting on September 10th 2022, the first of the reign of Charles III.

Although he holds no official position within the Church of Scotland, King Charles became Supreme Governor of the Church of England when he ascended the throne. It is a position held by the English monarch for centuries.

The interfaith meeting took place at Buckingham Palace on December 13th 2023.
