King Charles and Prince William visit ”The Queue” to meet mourners

King Charles III and the Prince of Wales are personally thanking some of the tens of thousands queuing to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II at the Lying in State.

The Monarch and the heir to the throne arrived at Lambeth Bridge early on Saturday afternoon to meet some of those waiting patiently to go to Westminster Hall to pay their respects to Her Late Majesty. Some have been queuing since the early hours of the morning.

The King and the Prince told those waiting how much their tributes to Queen Elizabeth II meant to them and all the Royal Family.

Tens of thousands have been queuing to go into Westminster Hall to pay their respects to Her Late Majesty. On Saturday, wait time was put at around 16 hours with many still heading to Southwark to join the start of the queue.

The Prince of Wales told one person in the queue that his grandmother wouldn’t believe so many had turned out to pay their respects.

The Lying in State at Westminster Hall began on September 14th and will continue until the early hours of September 19th with doors closing at 6.30am, just before the State Funeral of Her Late Majesty.

On September 16th 2022, King Charles took part in the Vigil of the Princes with the Princess Royal, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex. The four kept watch over their mother’s coffin for fifteen minutes before a packed hall. On September 17th, the Prince of Wales and Her Late Majesty’s seven other grandchildren will also keep vigil in Westminster Hall.
