The King was joined by the Prince of Wales on Saturday morning for a surprise visit to The Queue in London where hundreds of thousands of mourners have been waiting to see Queen Elizabeth II Lying-in-State.
His Majesty and His Royal Highness spent around half an hour visiting mourners as they waited to see the late monarch’s coffin in Westminster Hall.
Thanking the public, Prince William said that “it means an awful lot” to him and his family that so many people had come out to pay their respects.
He also said that his grandmother would never have believed the amount of people who have come out, some of them waiting in line for 24 hours, to file past her coffin.
He said: “She would never believe this, honestly, she wouldn’t believe it. It’s amazing.”
“She’d never believe this, honestly, she really wouldn’t.”

The King and the Prince told those waiting how much their tributes to Queen Elizabeth II meant to them and all the Royal Family.
Tens of thousands have been queuing to go into Westminster Hall to pay their respects to Her Late Majesty. On Saturday, wait time was put at around 16 hours with many still heading to Southwark to join the start of the queue.
