Duchess of Cambridge’s former London flat up for sale by Middletons

Want to live like a future queen? The Duchess of Cambridge’s old flat has been put up for sale by her parents, and it can be yours for £1.95 million.

Located in Chelsea, in the heart of London, Kate lived in the apartment in the 2000s while she was dating Prince William. Pippa lived in the flat as well, and James has used it off and on in the years since Kate moved out.

The three Middleton children have all abandoned the unit – Kate and Pippa are both still based in London at Kensington Palace and a spacious mansion, respectively, and James splits his time between Scotland, where he works as a tour guide, and Berkshire, where he stays with his parents at their seven-bedroom Georgian mansion they purchased in 2012.

Mike and Carole Middleton purchased the apartment in 2002 for £780,000 and could net a profit of £1.2 million should they sell at asking price.

The three-bedroom flat boasts 1,250 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bedrooms and master bathroom are located on the third floor, with a living room, kitchen and guest bathroom on the second floor.

According to The Times, the apartment’s décor is “old-fashioned furniture, cosy, oriental-style rugs and colourful cushions” and the bathrooms are finished in off-white marble and neutral interiors. The kitchen has wooden units and black marble worktops.

The Middletons did not explain why they’ve decided to put the apartment on the market and did not respond to requests from The Times.

Listed on the Knight Frank real estate website, the master bedroom has a “picturesque view onto Justice Walk and over the chimney pots of Old Chelsea.

“The front of the building faces east to west, providing lovely morning light and this continues throughout the day, as the sun beams through the reception room into the afternoon.”
