After a decade spent campaigning on behalf of domestic violence survivors and raising awareness, Queen Camilla is taking television cameras behind the scenes to showcase her work.
ITV announced Wednesday that it has commissioned a 90-minute programme entitled ‘Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors’. Television cameras joined the Queen on visits with domestic violence survivors and to various charities and organisations she works with to lift the veil on her work.
In a statement, Sue Murphy, the Director of Factual Entertainment at ITV, said: “ITV is proud to be making this documentary with Her Majesty the Queen about this hugely important subject.
“We hope the film will raise awareness and inspire change in our society.”
The television programme will feature interviews with survivors of domestic violence and their families, many of whom have worked with Queen Camilla over the years through her patronages.
“With exclusive access to Her Majesty as she meets the incredible survivors of domestic abuse, this film tells the stories of those who have suffered and their families… as they bravely and selflessly share their experiences to raise awareness and help others,” said Kate Teckman, who works as ITV’s Head of Development and the programme’s commissioning editor.
Queen Camilla will be shown visiting with survivors and families, and hosting roundtables and other events at Buckingham Palace.
‘Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors’ will air later this year.
