The Duchess of Cornwall has been the talk of the royal world since The Queen’s historic accession day announcement, and she was all smiles as she was greeted by flag-waving children during her first appearance since the news that she’d be known as Queen Consort.

Camilla’s enthusiastic greeting took place as she visited Roundhill Primary School in Bath, where, according to the Daily Mail, several in the crowd shouted “Queen Camilla!” before she joined in several classes with the students.

The Queen declared her wishes for Camilla to be known as Queen Consort on the eve of her Platinum Jubilee, sharing a message that reflected on her 70-year reign as well as the future of the monarchy.

The future Queen Consort, who is patron of Bath’s St John’s Foundation, visited the school to see the work they were doing for children in need of extra support.

She took part in an early years class, holding hands with young students as they sang a song, then chatted with students doing maths as she admitted it wasn’t her best subject. Later, the Duchess of Cornwall heard a performance of a song students learned for the event called “We Are Proud of Our School.”

The St John’s Foundation is, according to Clarence House, working to “equip children with the skills and level of education needed to thrive in their transition into secondary school.” The Duchess of Cornwall witnessed this in action as she stopped by the Roundhill School’s library.

Camilla, who is a champion for literacy-related organisations, joined a group of older students who were working on a book about their school that they hope to publish. Asking if the kids enjoyed the library, the Duchess of Cornwall said “it’s a good place to be, isn’t it?”

Before departing, Camilla joined in the Queen’s Green Canopy project for the Platinum Jubilee as she helped to plant a tree at the school (and gave it a bit of a shake for good luck).

Following her day with the children, Camilla visited domestic violence charity Voices to meet with staff and clients in honour of Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week.

Located in Bath, the organisation was founded by people who experienced domestic abuse themselves. The Duchess of Cornwall toured their space and heard more about how the charity works with survivors of abuse, meeting with several long-term clients.

Voices empowers women and their families, providing help to not only heal from abuse, but a platform to speak up and influence policy and provision of services.

The Duchess of Cornwall will round out a busy day of engagements by hosting a Team GB Equestrian event at Clarence House following their successful run at the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
