The Queen orders new £5 coin to commemorate Prince George’s 1st birthday

<![CDATA[The Royal Mint are set to release a new commemorative £5 coin to celebrate Prince George's 1st birthday next month, a proclamation published by the Privy Council shows.
The proclamation, setting out the specification for the coin, was made in a meeting of the Privy Council where it was given The Queen's approval yesterday evening.
Her Majesty has given the order for the silver coin to be produced and it will be the latest of many royal commemorative coins. The coin will be in legal tender in the United Kingdom and can be used on its face value, though the coins typically sell for more than their face value.
It laid out that the obverse of the coin will carry an effigy of The Queen with the inscription “ELIZABETH · II · D · G · REG · F · D · 2014”, and the reverse will have the four Quarterings of the Royal Arms, each contained in a shield and arranged in saltire with a rose, a thistle, a sprig of shamrock and a leek, therefore representing the four nations of the UK. In the centre of the coin will be a depiction of the Crown and in the base the date of the year.
Prince George will celebrate his first birthday on 22nd July.
Last year, The Queen commissioned the first ever a Royal Christening coins. Additionally, the Royal Mint gave away 2,013 silver pennies to babies born on the same day as the 3rd in line to the throne.
