Yesterday the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge undertook a day of engagements in North Wales where they were able to meet individuals and organisations who have encouraged others to “look after their communities and protect the natural environment,” according to Kensington Palace.
Their day began at Caernarfon Coastguard Search and Rescue which allowed Prince William to catch up with some old comrades. His Royal Highness was able to talk to former co-workers, Mike and Rich, who he worked alongside as a Search and Rescue Pilot. It was during this time that the Duke revealed that he missed his old job.
Deputy Chief Pilot, Captain Martin Shepherd, also showed the Duke and Duchess the new Sikorsky S92 helicopter for the rescue organisation with both William and Kate taking a seat in the cockpit. William and Kate then took part in a mental health discussion with Damien from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
The royal couple next moved to the local business, Halen Mon Anglesey Sea Salt where they got to see firsthand how salt is made from hand harvesting to packaging. Halen Mon has been in operation for two decades and specialises in creating fine sea salt and seasonings.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s final event took place at Newborough Beach where they helped young people from local primary schools pick up trash from the beach. At the end of the cleanup, they were shown the waste that had recently washed up on the shores and was picked up that day.
The clean up of Newborough Beach was organised by the Isle of Anglesey County Council and marine conservation group, and their commitment to the environment and clean beaches lead to Angelsey being awarded the Plastic Free Communities Award – the first county in the UK to be given the honour – by the 1st Menai Bridge Scouting Group.
Their Royal Highnesses were able to meet with the 1st Menai Bridge Scouting Group during their time at Newborough Beach and explore the beach’s wildlife habitat with the young people. The Scouting Group also explained the “importance of the nesting bird colonies on neighbouring Llanddwyn Island,” Kensington Palace revealed.

Anglesey is a place close to the couple’s hearts as it is where they lived together for several years including after their 2011 wedding.
