The infant son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has been christened at a ceremony at Windsor. Archie Harrison’s baptism took place on the morning of July 6th 2019.
The ceremony took place in the Private Chapel of Windsor Castle with the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, officiating. The service was attended by the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Doria Ragland as well as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Harry and Meghan later shared two new images of them with their son to mark the occasion. Both photos were taken by Chris Allerton. The formal portrait of the family shows the Duke, Duchess and Archie in the Rose Garden at Windsor Castle.
In the Instagram post which accompanied the portraits, the couple said they were ”so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son. They thank you for your kindness in welcoming their first born and celebrating this special moment.”
They post went on ”Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie.”
Archie was christened wearing the traditional replica Honiton lace christening gown, commissioned by the Queen as a replacement for the family heirloom baptism outfit used by royals since the time of Queen Victoria.

As well as a family portrait of the Duke, Duchess and Archie, there is a group image including Charles, Doria, Camilla, William and Kate as well as Lady Jane Fellows and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, the two sisters of Diana, Princess of Wales. The portrait was taken in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle.
The couple and Archie’s godparents decided not to publicise the name of his sponsors.
