The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are to get a review of their security following their relocation to the UK.
Harry and Meghan moved back to England at the end of August with their children starting a new school year in September.
Now, ITV News has reported that the couple are to have their security arrangements reviewed following their return.
It’s understood part of the reason for the review is the school runs they will undertake.
ITV reports that the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) has informed the Duke of Sussex that he and the Duchess of Sussex will get a full review of their security now that they have returned to the UK after six years in the US.
It’s the first security review for Meghan since she stepped down as a senior royal in January 2020.
Prince Harry took a long and unsuccessful case in court against the Home Office over his security. It’s understood the couple currently pays for private security for themselves and their children.
Earlier this summer, RAVEC confirmed that Harry’s security would be looked at on a case by case basis. At the time, he was living in the US. Harry and Meghan announced they were returning to the UK in August and came back just days later. It’s understood they only informed King Charles of their decision three days before making it public.
In early September, the Lord Chamberlain wrote to military chiefs, lord lieutenants and all government officials involved in arranging royal visits to underline that Harry and Meghan are not working royals but private citizens and that all events they attend should be treated as visits from private individuals.
The letter said the clarification came after several enquiries following their return.
