Boris Johnson’s first Queen’s Speech will take place in mid-October it can be revealed.
The date will be formally confirmed during a meeting of the Privy Council at Balmoral Castle later today.
The move to hold a Queen’s Speech in October, thus suspending Parliament, is thought to part of a complicated manoeuvre by the government to exit the European Union.
The decision to suspend Parliament will likely cause a huge backlash, and if it goes ahead, will cause a constitutional crisis.
The news means The Queen will also be dragged into the Brexit debate by the Prime Minister, something Buckingham Palace courtiers have been keen to avoid.
