Beginning on 20 March 2015 and running until 11 October, Painting Paradise: The Art of the Garden shows the way in which gardens have been commemorated in art through the span of four centuries.
This exhibit brings together an array of paintings, drawings, books, manuscripts, botanical studies, and decorative arts.
The exhibition studies the shifting nature of the garden from the 16th to the early 20th century.
It comprises works by Leonardo da Vinci, Maria Sibylla Merian and Carl Fabergé, and several early and rare representations of gardens and plants in existence.
The Queen’s Gallery is a public art gallery at Buckingham Palace.
The original structure, designed by John Nash was completed in 1831. In 1843 it was renovated and became a private chapel for Queen Victoria. Unfortunately in 1940, it was destroyed during the massive air raids that pummeled Britain during World War II.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh requested that it revitalised as a gallery for the Royal Collection in 1962.
The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace re-opened after a renovation project in 2000 that enhanced its size by three-and-a-half times.
