Princess Charlene shares behind the scenes snaps from National Day

Princess Charlene has shared some behind the scenes snaps from Monaco’s National Day celebrations on Thursday, 19 November, on her official Instagram page.

The photos were taken inside the Princely Palace and feature her and Prince Albert’s five-year-old twins, Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, with their proud papa.

One post has two photos; Prince Albert is seen with Prince Jacques, his heir, in the first photo and Princess Gabriella in the second image. Charlene captioned the images: “So proud.” The post has garnered almost 24,000 likes since it was posted yesterday.

The second post on her Instagram is just of Prince Jacques, the Hereditary Prince of Monaco. The Princess of Monaco captioned it with a simple heart, and close to 17,000 people have liked the post.

Prince Jacques stole the show on Thursday when he was seen copying his father’s salute to the military as they marched past. This was the first year that he and Princess Gabriella attended the ceremony. Usually, they are only seen from the palace balcony during the celebrations when the parade takes place; however, the parade was cancelled this year due to COVID-19.

Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques will celebrate their sixth birthday next month. Gabriella is two minutes older than Jacques, but Monaco’s succession is governed by male-preference cognatic primogeniture, meaning male’s come before females in the line of succession. If Albert and Charlene were to have another child, and it is a boy, he would pass Gabriella in the line of succession.
