Swedish Royal Family hosts first Representation Dinner since 2019

The Swedish Royal Family has hosted their first Representation Dinner since 2019.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia were joined by Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia and Princess Christina for the gala event at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

Representatives from the diplomatic corps, Swedish parliament (Riksdag), Swedish government and culture were invited to dine with the royals. Also invited were the Ukrainian Ambassador to Sweden and other representatives from foreign countries. A full guest list can be seen here.

Before dining in Charles XI’s Gallery, the royals greeted their guests in the White Sea Room – albeit without handshakes to prevent the spread of germs. Those invited have made significant contributions to Sweden and the globe.

Guests were treated to steamed Norwegian crab, fried Icelandic monkfish, fried & braised spring lamb from Mälardalen, butter-baked white asparagus and lemon meringue with different sorbets, among other foods.

The last Representation Dinner took place at the Royal Palace in 2019, before the global health crisis began. Since then, health restrictions have prevented the Royal Family from hosting the event, which is held once or twice each year.
