Princess Sofia: “Life has given me not just one but four beautiful princes”

Princess Sofia of Sweden took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the first images of Prince Julian with his older brothers, Prince Alexander, 4, and Prince Gabriel, 3. She shared two black and white images of the three little princes cuddled together.

In her post, Sofia wrote: “Life has given me not just one but four beautiful princes. A heartfelt thank you from us for all the warm congratulations in connection with Julian’s birth.”

Prince Carl Philip is seen in the second image with his arms on his two older sons as Prince Alexander hugs his baby brother.

Prince Julian was born on Friday, 26 March, at Danderyd Hospital. His grandfather, King Carl XVI Gustaf, announced his name and ducal title two days later in a cabinet meeting at the Royal Palace. His full name and title are Prince Julian Herbert Folke of Sweden, Duke of Halland.

Unlike his older brothers, Princes Alexander and Gabriel, he was not born with the style of Royal Highness. In October 2019, the King revoked the style of Royal Highness from the children of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia and Princess Madeleine and Chris O’Neill. They also lost their positions in the Royal House; however, they remain members of the Royal Family and in the line of succession.

Julian is seventh in line to succeed his grandfather to the Swedish throne. He is King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia’s eighth grandchild and fifth grandson.
