Princess Madeleine and family mark Second Sunday of Advent

Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her family have marked the Second Sunday of Advent at their home in Florida, and the royal posted a photo of her three children, Princesses Leonore and Adrienne and Prince Nicolas, celebrating the day on her Instagram account.

The Princess, who is lighting the candle in the picture, said with her post: “Happy 2nd Advent!”

The Swedish Royal Court shared the image on their social media saying: “Today, the Second Advent candle is lit in many homes in Sweden and abroad. Princess Madeleine with family wishes everyone in this picture a happy Second Advent.”

Madeleine’s older sister, Crown Princess Victoria and her family released a video last Sunday to mark the First Sunday of Advent and new photos of Victoria’s children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, decorating Christmas wreaths.

Advent takes place each December in the lead up to Christmas with an additional candle being lit each Sunday until Christmas. While the First Sunday of Advent looks forward to the Second Coming of Christ, the Second Sunday of Advent recalls John the Baptist’s preaching, as he came to prepare the way for Christ on Earth.

It is thought that Prince Carl Philip and his family or the King and Queen will share a photo next week for the Third Sunday of Advent.
