Prince Carl Philip attends annual Sports Gala

Prince Carl Philip of Sweden has attended the annual Swedish Sports Gala, where Sweden’s most prominent athletes are honoured when the previous year’s sports achievements are rewarded.

Prince Carl Philip, just like previous years, gave a speech at the Sports Gala, which aired on SVT. Among other things, the Prince addressed the important bond between athletes and the audience.

Unfortunately, Princess Sofia did not attend with her husband, and she had to follow the gala from home on television.

During the gala, viewers on television could also contribute to the Sports Gala and Sweden’s Radio Aid’s fundraiser for mental health.

There was one mistake during the yearly tribute for those who had died in the previous year. During the slideshow, they accidentally showed trotting legend Thomas Nilsson, who is alive, when they were meant to show the trotting icon Bo William Takter, who died in 2021. Many watching from home were unhappy with the mistake by SVT.

In previous years, Princess Sofia, Prince Daniel and Crown Princess Victoria have also occasionally participated in this gala. For many years, Prince Daniel has been heavily involved in sports and the fight for a more healthy and active society. He has had a passion for sports throughout his life, and following a brief time in the army after graduating from school, he became a fitness instructor and personal trainer before meeting Crown Princess Victoria.
