Norway’s Crown Prince and Princess announce first official foreign visit of 2022

Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway will pay an official visit to Sweden from 26 to 28 January next year.

The visit, their first official foreign trip to be confirmed for 2022, was announced by the Norwegian Royal Court. Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel will host the visit.

The visit will celebrate the close relations between Norway and Sweden and between the two royal houses. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt and Minister of Trade and Industry Jan Christian Vestre. The visit starts with two days in Stockholm and ends in Gothenburg.

The visit will contribute to strengthening the close business cooperation between Norway and Sweden, and emphasis will be placed on making future value creation sustainable and knowledge-based. Joining the trip is a larger Norwegian business delegation, which will meet its Swedish counterpart at several business events in both Stockholm and Gothenburg. The visit will focus on areas including artificial intelligence, smart societies, bioeconomy, health and welfare technology, clean energy and the green shift. The sea and the environment will be on the agenda during visits to research environments in Stockholm and Gothenburg.

In addition, the promotion of culture and creative industries will also be on the agenda. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess will visit Kulturhuset in Stockholm and participate in an industry meeting for Swedish and Norwegian children’s and young people’s literature. In collaboration with Music Norway, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess will meet the 20 Nordic award winners from «Nordic Music Biz Top 20 under 30».

Support for young people is a major area of concern for both the royal couples. A visit to Fryshuset in Stockholm, which has a wide range of services for young people, is also included in the program.

Further information about the final program will be announced later.

The Swedish and Norwegian royals are close friends. Every year they participate in events together and they also visit each other privately. In September this year, the Norwegian Crown Prince’s family was on a private visit to their Swedish relatives and colleagues
