It’s another Swedish Royal Baby Watch

Welcome to April – a month that promises several important events in several European royal houses. We will have birthdays, Jubilees, state visits and royal … births!

Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia are expecting a child.

Yes, this week we enter another official #BabyWatchSeason (yes, that’s a thing), while we wait for Prince Carl-Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden first child to make his/her big entrance in this world (and to our royal watcher’s lives, of course!).

According to the Swedish Royal House, the birth is due for this month. Both Carl-Philip and Sofia have no engagements scheduled on the the Royal Court website, but it is likely, as happened to Crown Princess Victoria, that Princess Sofia’s duties are announced with short notice, depending on how she feels.

The child will be the fifth grandchild of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, who are already grandparents of Estelle (4), Leonore (2), Nicolas (9 months), and Oscar, born on March 2 this year.

Carl-Philip and Sofia got married on June 13, 2015 and decided not to wait much longer to become parents. The pregnancy was announced in October 2015.

I think having two pregnant princesses on the same time on the same royal house must have been one of 2015’s royal highlights. Who can possibly forget how gorgeous both Victoria and Sofia were on the Nobel’s Ceremony last December?

After the birth of Crown Princess Victoria’s son in early March, now the question everyone is asking is: It will be a baby prince or a baby princess for Carl-Philip and Sofia? I’m betting on a boy!

In 2016, Sweden will welcome two royal children, host two royal christenings and also celebrates  King Carl Gustaf’s 70th birthday (also this month). A full year!

This is what I always say: we can always count on Sweden for great royal moments… every year!
