Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel visit Västra Götaland

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden

On Wednesday, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel visited the Swedish county of Västra Götaland. The Crown Princess and her husband are also the Duchess and Duke of Västergötland, the same county they visited. The royals visited the county to draw attention to efforts in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. The Crown Princess couple’s visit to the county took place in the village of Skövde, and Governor Anders Danielsson hosted the royals that day.

In the morning, the Crown Princess and Prince visited the Skaraborg hospital. At the hospital, infection control doctor Thomas Wahlberg told them about the situation in the county. The Crown Princess couple then had the opportunity to meet the staff at the hospital and thank them for their efforts during the pandemic.

The Crown Princess and the Prince then visited students and staff at the upper secondary school at Kavelbro High School. The visit ended with students performing music, including the national anthem, outside the school building.

At lunchtime, the royal visit continued at Skövde Church. At the church, the chairman of the municipal council was the host and told them about various projects in the municipality. Pastor Simon Holst told them about the church congregation’s activities during the pandemic, which included online services. Afterwards, the Crown Princess and Prince Daniel met one of the founders of the association Ätbart, which collects leftover food from shops and restaurants. In the church, the Crown Princess and the Prince met representatives from the Gothenburg Opera’s local team in Skövde, who spoke about the cultural life in the city and how it was affected during the pandemic.

The Crown Princess couple ended their visit to Västra Götaland County at Skövde Science Park to learn more about how the pandemic affects the business community in the county. The Science Park combines several different activities, including businesses, universities, regions and municipalities.
