Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel make first appearance since surprise divorce denial

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel have appeared in their first joint engagement after issuing a surprising statement to deny rumours of an impending divorce.

The Crown Princess couple sat down for a video conference with law enforcement actors engaged in the prevention of sexual crimes on minors.

Invited to the meeting, among others, were Ritha Söderberg, director of the National Police division for sexual crimes against children on the Internet, and Ulrika Kvarnström, a business developer in children’s law at the National Operative Department.

The meeting, which took place on Monday, 21st February, was organised by the Crown Princess Couple’s Foundation. The aim of the meeting was informing the couple about measures being taken by all law enforcement to prevent sexual abuse of minors and child trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The protection of children and guarantee of a healthy lifestyle for them is the main focus of the Crown Princess Couple’s Foundation, under whose umbrella there are also many initiatives aimed at improving both physical and mental health for the younger generation.

The Foundation was created in 2010, when the couple got married, and has since then headed massive efforts to offer children more outdoor time, more physical activity and, in more recent years, broader access to mental health resources.

The meeting came just hours after Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel issued vehemently denying rumours circulating about an impending divorce.

The statement said that it was issued to protect their family and came just before the birthdays of their children, Princess Estelle, now 10, and Prince Oscar who is about to turn six.

The couple held the meeting from Haga Palace, their home since their marriage and the place where they have recently spent a few weeks in quarantine after contracting Covid for a second time.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are not the only family members to tackle the issue of child sexual abuse. Queen Silvia has created the World Childhood Foundation, in which Princess Madeleine also works, and both of them have been very vocal on the issue of child sexual abuse and sexual exploitation for the past decades.
