Princess Madeleine’s American husband Chris O’Neill may have damaged the relationship between the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and the Swedish royal family. This is something several Swedish and international royal experts say after Chris O’Neill expressed criticism of the US president on his private Instagram profile.
Chief editor of the Swedish royal magazine “Svensk Damtidning” says that no Swedish royal person has spoken in this way as long as he can remember. Chief editor Lindwall said that although O’Neill is not royal, he is a part of the royal family and therefore he should have considered how expressing his political views can damage the family he is a part of.
Although many agree with O’Neill’s criticism of Trump many Swedes thinks he never should have expressed himself in social media, although this happened on a closed account. What many fear is that Trump considers O’Neill as a part of the Swedish royal family and is offended by his statement. He is, after all, married to a Princess of Sweden, and his children have royal titles.
In an interview with the Swedish press in 2015, O’Neill said that he didn’t consider himself as a royal person and that he will never have duties for the royal family or Sweden. This has meant that he is in between being royal and a private person. A representative for the Royal Court, Johan Tegel, told The Local that Chris spoke as “a private person.” He then said, “Christopher O’Neill has declined a royal title, which means the Royal Court has no reason to comment on his Instagram post.”
Christopher O’Neill was born in London and holds both British and US citizenship. He and Princess Madeleine has previously lived together in New York, but currently living married couple in London with their children, Princess Leonore (2) and Prince Nicolas (1).
What relationship does the Royal Family have with DJT? Chris is an American citizen and has every right to criticize his government. His post was private, any alleged damage was caused be the friend that shared it publicly.
Chris is not a prince of Sweden, nor a member of the Swedish royal house; in fact, he’s not even a Swedish citizen . As a private U.S. citizen, he is entitled under the First Amendment to criticize President Trump. His opinions should not confused with any official position of the Swedish royal house or the Swedish government,
The Swedish family should worry about the underage nude shots of “Princess” Sofia. And the sleazy ways of their king. Chris is not Swedish citizen, bravo to him.
MY GOD MAN….HAVE YOU’VE GONE MAD!..QUIT SIMPLY MAD?.. YOU ARE FAMILY HEIRS TO THE THRONE AND YOU BUT YOUR DUMB ASS IN FRONT IF THE WELFARE OF YOUR LOVING FAMILY AND CHILDREN CHANCE IF BEING KING SOMEDAY…MIND YOUR MANNERS…DUDE….YOU EMBRASSED THE SWEDISH PEOPLE BY YOUR ACTIONS ON PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP PRESIDENCY.KEEP YOU AMERICAN BULLSHIT OUT OF SWEDEN!
You are confused. No American BS in Sweden. He is an American living in London with a private life and private IG account. His wife is a Princess of Sweden. Which he has no part of with representing the country.
All caps? You need to relax. Worry about other things dude. Like oh I don’t know ..maybe that Trump has a finger on nukes? Trump could careless about a comment. He doesn’t even know who is who in the world. Please….
Chris is an American, tax paying citizen. Free speech.
DJT embarrasses the people of the United States.
This is a ginned up fake controversy.
I’d rather expect the Swedish Royal Family to be proud of their family member, especially as Chris seems to belong to this financial elite that is always dismissed by Trump. It’s time they speak up.
Trump let’s not forget, publicly dismissed someone on his show who is a part of Mensa. Mensa is a high I.Q. society. But Trump completely dismissed someone who was on his show who’s a member of Mensa. Trump doesn’t like someone who is smarter than him because let’s not forget, Trump seems to believe that he’s “like a very smart guy!” LMAO
Right? He’s a spoiled, entitled, ignorant, an idiot who has never heard the word ‘no.’ He thinks he owns the USA now and can do anything he wants. Congress needs to do their job and impeach the mofo sooner rather than later.
In truth, I’m glad anyone from any royal aristocracy, royal or not, spoke out against Trump! Truth is, Trump is a bully. Won’t be long until Trump tries to push the Queen of England around, if he’s granted a state visit to England! Trump is already apparently at a war with Prince Charles over the subject of Climate Change! So even though Chris may be married to her majesty Princess Madeleine, at least more are calling Trump out! I understand with all sincerity that the monarchies of Europe and abroad must stay neutral in terms of politics. But they should be at least be able to share an opinion. Specifically when someone like Trump will not only be doing harm to the United States as “Commander in Chief”, but damage relations with the rest of the worlds diplomats and / or regents. Trump is a child who can’t handle criticism. His ego is so fragile, it’s not shocking he takes to twitter to cry his outrage when his feelings get hurt! Kudos to Chris O’Neill. Truly! If Trump were to meet with any diplomat either from the British royal family, or Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands,, Norway or Spain, Trump better get his act together or he will face a crisis which will mean the rest of the world’s governments turning on the U.S. because of cry-baby Trump!
Trump doesn’t know where Sweden is.
Easy for him to attack the President of the US. Wasn’t he a Wall Street tycoon? They all wanted the witch to win…she had that crowd in her back pocket. He lives in an unreal world of tiaras and such. Let him visit the rust belt states where people are out of work…can’t afford healthcare… and have four little mouths to feed.
Mr O Neill is not so popular in Sweden as his behaviour has shown little grace and quality. Most of us are pleased that he is not a ¨royal member¨of the Swedish royal family.
