King Felipe closes Entrepreneurs conference on a basketball court

King Felipe of Spain continued his week back to public duties with a day trip to Valencia to take part in the closing of the General Assembly of the Valencian Association of Entrepreneurs (VAE), which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Upon his arrival in the community’s capital on the morning of Tuesday, 22 February, His Majesty was welcomed by local authorities and officials from the association.

The event began with the projection of a video titled “Lo que nos mueve” (“What moves us”), dedicated to summarising the 40 years of activities of the Valencian Association of Entrepreneurs.

It was then time for an intervention from the President of the VAE before another video was projected, titled “Forty years of engagement in society. New times, same values.”

The central event of the day was a round table on the theme “40 years of engagement in society,” with discussions involving the Presidents of Vectalia, Torrecid and Mercadona and the delegate councillor of Libertas 7.

Before the event concluded, King Felipe gave a speech, during which he expressed his gratitude for the values promoted by entrepreneurs in the association, both in terms of ethics and social norms and of job security for employees.

The King then held a short meeting with participants before receiving a tour of the location that hosted the event.

L’Alquería del Basket is the local basketball team’s training grounds. They host both the men’s and women’s teams, and the team owner is currently building a new facility, Casal España Arena Valencia, whose opening is scheduled for some time in 2023.

During the tour, the King also got the opportunity to chat with students in the basketball school located in the facility.

The Valencian Association for Entrepreneurs reunites 165 entrepreneurs from three provinces of the Valencian Autonomic Community, which are “at the front of leading businesses in the most significant sectors of the productive net, creating 62% of the region’s GDP and creating more than 295.000 jobs,” according to the Royal Household’s website.
