It was a grey and drizzly afternoon in Luxembourg City, but many people turned out to cheer as Princess Alexandra and Nicolas Bagory celebrated their civil wedding.
The few guests present for the ceremony arrived at the municipality building around 3 pm, with the bride and groom arriving first.
They were accompanied by their respective families, with a couple being seen at the end of the line being Mr Bagory’s parents.
As for the Grand Ducal Family, the adults turned out in full force: the Princess’s four brothers were all present, with the older two being accompanied by their respective wives.
In what was a surprise for many, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie was also present, despite giving birth to her second son, Prince François, less than a month ago. She arrived wearing a blue coat, and carrying a clutch bag with a cause: the brand, called Turquoise Tassel, was created to give Turkish women financial independence. The piece was identified by fashion bloggers at UFONoMore.
Walking alongside Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie were Prince Félix and Princess Claire, Prince Louis and Prince Sébastien. In front of them, and just behind the bride and groom, were Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.
The Grand Ducal Court has already released some pictures from the inside of the ceremony, which was off-limits for external media, and the public can appreciate how small and intimate of a ceremony it was: there were only two rows of guests, most of which were family members, and a small choir.
Mayor Lydie Polfer was the one officiating the ceremony, and the couple chose to keep it short to also have a few minutes to stop in private contemplation at Notre Dame Cathedral since they will not be celebrating their religious wedding in Luxembourg but in France.
The couple will hold their religious wedding next Saturday, 29th April, in the church of Sainte Trophyme, in the small town of Bormes-les-Mimosas, in the south of France. Since Prince Félix and Princess Claire also celebrated their religious wedding in France in 2013, the last royal wedding held in Notre Dame Cathedral was that of Prince Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie, who celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in October 2022.
