Queen Sonja released from hospital

Queen Sonja announces school award winner

After an evening spent in Lillehammer Hospital with atrial fibrillation, Queen Sonja has been discharged with a normal heart rhythm.

The Queen of Norway had been admitted following a skiing trip where her heart rate was elevated, though the Norwegian Royal Court shared at the time that “The situation is not considered serious and the Queen is in good shape.”

After Queen Sonja’s hospitalisation was announced last night, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said in a statement “I wish Queen Sonja a speedy recovery and hope she recovers quickly and is ready for new ski trips soon.”

Queen Sonja is 87 years old.
