Queen Sonja of Norway hospitalised

Queen Sonja has been admitted to Lillehammer Hospital

In a brief statement, the Norwegian Royal Court announced that Queen Sonja has been hospitalised for observation following atrial fibrillation earlier in the day during on a skiing trip.

Atrial fibrillation is defined as an abnormal heart rhythm that may be a rapid and irregular beating of the heart.

The Norwegian Royal Court also said Queen Sonja is in good shape and the situation is not considered serious.

Queen Sonja, 87, carried out a public engagement just a few days ago.
