New photos of Princess Ingrid Alexandra released as she celebrates her 18th birthday

A new set of images of Norway’s future queen have been shared by the royals as she comes of age.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra turns 18 on January 21st 2022. Her big birthday means she can now act as Regent of Norway, if required.

The princess is seen in a set of five photos taken by Ida Bjørvik to mark the occasion.

In one, the future queen is seen standing in front of draping red and white fabric, a nod to the colours of her country’s flag.

Her 18th birthday also sees her give her first major TV interview in which she reveals there is ”no queen school” for her as her grandfather, King Harald, allows her to learn the responsibilities of her role in her own way.

Just ahead of her 18th birthday, the princess visited Norway’s parliament and Supreme Court and was invited to sit in the King’s Chair as a reminder of the role awaiting her.

Ingrid Alexandra was born on January 21st 2004 in Oslo, the first child of the marriage of Crown Prince Haakon, heir to the throne, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. She was second in line to the throne from birth. She has an older half brother, Marius, born to Mette-Marit during a previous relationship and a younger brother, Sverre, who was born in 2005.
