King Harald hospitalised with an infection

King Harald V of Norway has been admitted to the Rikshospitalet in Oslo.

The king has been diagnosed with an infection that needs to be treated in hospital and he will remain there for several days.

The Royal Court in Oslo says that His Majesty’s condition is stable.

The King of Norway was due to be at Akershus fortress on Monday afternoon to mark the Day of Atonement and National Veterans Day. Crown Prince Haakon will take over that role.

King Harald is scheduled to receive Italian President Sergio Mattarella on a state visit to Norway later this week. It is not clear yet whether he will be able to carry out those engagements.
