Monaco’s royal twins to accompany parents on “halfway-around-the-world” trip

Monaco’s royal twins, Their Serene Highnesses Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, are due to accompany their parents on a “halfway-around-the-world” trip.

The twins’ father, Prince Albert, recently revealed this information to People Magazine explaining that the trip would be taken in stages due to their young age; Gabriella and Jacques will turn three on 10 December.

The Prince said, “We did a cruise with them this summer, and that was fine.

“Next summer, we’re going to take them on a long trip to Polynesia. We’ll have to break up, so it’s not so long for them.” This trip is tied to a planned visit by Albert to the Yersin, an explorer vessel, while it is stopped in the Marquesa Islands.

They will also visit Tahiti, and Albert added, “They’ll see some beautiful islands.”

His Serene Highness said that an official state visit with the young twins is still a few years in the future, “Including Jacques and Gabriella as part of any official state visit might have to wait a few years.”

However, the two-year-old twins have busy plans up ahead with their parents. They will attend Monaco’s National Day celebrations on 19 November, the annual Christmas children’s party at the Prince’s Palace, and other holiday and birthday events all before the end of the year. They are sure to feature in the 2017 family Christmas card, as well.

When questioned about a potential playdate with four-year-old Prince George and two-year-old Princess Charlotte, Albert responded, “Maybe.” Again, he stressed, “But a state visit with the twins to any country— not just the UK —is a few years off.”

The Sovereign Prince of Monaco is not the first royal to be asked about a playdate with young George and Charlotte. Princess Madeleine of Sweden, who lives in London with her husband Chris O’Neill and two children: Princess Leonore and Prince Nicolas, was asked a similar question in September 2016. The youngest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia responded that she would love a playdate and added, “I’m sure we will cross paths – and who knows what we will do when we do!”
