On Thursday, Grand Duke Henri, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie, and Princess Alexandra hosted a New Year reception at the Grand Ducal Palace.
Invited were members of the government (including Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel), Council of State, Chamber of Deputies, high representatives of the judiciary and members of the diplomatic corps.
A selection of images from the event were later released by the Grand Ducal Court to the press.
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa was due to attend. However, the Grand Ducal Court announced earlier this week that the Grand Duchess’s brother, Luis Mestre, was urgently admitted to the intensive care unit. Naturally, the Grand Duchess is with her younger brother and family during this time and had to cancel her official events for the week.
The Hereditary Grand Duchess is expecting her first child with her husband, due in May. This event was the first event where her baby bump was noticeable. The Hereditary Grand Ducal Couple have not been able to hide their joy at expecting their first child together and were beaming at the initial event after the announcement at the end of last year.
