Queen Letizia took diplomatic dressing to a new level ahead of the Olympic Games, stunning in a Dior gown at an official reception at the Spanish Embassy in Paris on Thursday.
The Spanish queen was reportedly loaned the black-and-white silk embroidered dress by Dior specifically for the reception. It was a part of the Dior Spring-Summer 2024 collection and debuted on the catwalk in Paris earlier this year.
On the bodice of her dress was an embroidered and beaded fleur-de-lys, a symbol of France that used to represent the monarchy before its abolition.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia are leading the Spanish delegation into the Paris Olympics. On Thursday, the couple attended a reception for Spanish Olympians at the Embassy before attending an official International Olympic Committee reception at the Louvre on Thursday evening.
In a speech to Spanish Olympians, King Felipe said: “It is truly an honour to be here, to share this day with you, to share with all the delegations tomorrow the great party, very original according to what we are told, of the opening of the Games, but above all to be able to accompany you in some of the competitions that we can.”
The Spanish Royal Court previously announced that the King and Queen will attend competitions over the next two weeks; Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía are also expected to attend events, as is Queen Sofía.
“What I want is for you to live this experience in the best way possible, to enjoy it and enjoy the excitement of getting there, because the effort you have had to make to get there is already a success,” said the King. “So now enjoy it and do it as best as possible, because you know how to do it very well.”
