Queen Rania of Jordan has visited her namesake teaching academy to congratulate them on a new honour.
The Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) has received international academic accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation for one of its training programmes. The Queen travelled to the QRTA in the King Hussein Business Park to express her joy at the news on 7 December.
Later on Instagram, Her Majesty wrote: “Congrats to the Queen Rania Teacher Academy on receiving international accreditation for its online in-service Teacher Education Professional Diploma from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.”
It was announced last week by the QRTA that they’d received accreditation for its Teacher Education Professional Diploma – an online and in-person training for current teachers first launched in 2016 – by the US-based Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. It is the first educational organisation that received this international academic accreditation in Jordan and only the third in the Middle East.
During the visit, Queen Rania spoke to QRTA’s CEO, Dr Osama Obeidat and the management team to learn more about its current work and their contributions to the local and regional education industry. She told them: “This achievement didn’t happen overnight. It comes after a ten-year journey of hard work and constant evolution.”
She also stressed that the teaching academy needed to continue evaluating its programmes to ensure they are beneficial to both teachers and students.
Obeidat also explained that receiving accreditation took two years and “included the submission of a comprehensive roadmap, rigorous documentation, several interviews, and a site visit,” according to Her Majesty’s office.
The Queen Rania Teacher Academy was established in 2009 as a non-profit organisation that works with educators to provide needed skills to help future generations.
