On Saturday, 18 July, Thai Princess Chulabhorn attended a merit-making ceremony in memory of late Thai princesses at Pimanmas Palace in Sattahip, Chonburi, Thailand.
She paid homage to two portraits of late royals, Princesses Srinagarindra and Galyani. The former was her paternal grandmother and the latter her paternal aunt. The Princess was joined at the event by senior monks.
Her Royal Highness spoke to the Secretary-General of the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Project, Dr Yuth Potaramik, about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. She requested that they focus heavily on people’s health during these difficult times.
Princesses Srinagarindra founded the Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Foundation which provided medical services to villagers in remote areas, and once she passed away, Princess Galyani took her mother’s place within the foundation until her own death. Princess Chulabhorn succeeded her aunt in leading the organisation.
Princess Srinagarindra died in 1995 at the age of 94. Princess Galyani passed away at the age of 84 in 2008 after a battle with cancer and a blockage of a cerebral artery.
Princess Chulabhorn is the youngest child of the late King Rama IX and Queen Sirikit. Her only brother is the reigning King Rama X. King Rama X took the throne after the death of his father in 2016.
