Prince Louis shows he’s just like Queen Elizabeth II in one way

Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte and Prince George join The King and Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

Prince Louis has shown he shares a very royal passion with Queen Elizabeth II – appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

As Louis, 7, joined the Royal Family to greet crowds and watch a flypast after Trooping the Colour, he clearly relished every moment of the treat, waving at every opportunity.

And he enjoyed his time on the balcony so much, he made sure to turn around for one final greeting as his mother, the Princess of Wales, ushered her children inside.

With Catherine’s hand on his back to guide him inside, Prince Louis couldn’t resist one last sneaky peek at the crowds who had gathered at the Palace for Trooping.

Queen Elizabeth II was known to particularly enjoy her balcony appearances as a child and was known to be very excited at the huge turnout that greeted the Royal Family for the Silver Jubilee of her grandfather, King George V, in 1935.

At her own Platinum Jubilee, in June 2022, she famously had lots of fun with Prince Louis who, then aged just 4, excitedly watched the flypast with his great grandmother.

Louis wasn’t the only person to make the most of this year’s appearance. King Charles looked moved as wellwishers sang the National Anthem and appeared to mouth ‘thank you’ at the end.

The King and Queen were joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales along with Louis, Prince George and Princess Charlotte for the balcony appearance.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and her husband, Sir Tim Laurence and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester also took part as did the Duke of Kent.

Trooping the Colour is traditionally held to mark the Monarch’s official birthday. This year, the Coldstream Guards trooped their colour with The King taking the salute.
