Prince & Princess of Wales

The Princess of Wales’s most senior aide resigns

The Princess of Wales has lost her most senior aide just weeks after the 40-year-old transformed from Duchess to Princess.

Hannah Cockburn-Logie, who has been described as Catherine’s ‘right hand woman’, has stepped down for personal reasons.

She had been Private Secretary to Her Royal Highness since June 2020 and was in charge of managing her diary.

Before joining the Royal Household, Ms Cockburn-Logie had more than 20 years worth of experience at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

During her tenures, she guided the then Duchess of Cambridge through some turbulent times, including the controversial remarks made by the Duke & Duchess of Sussex, and helped organised the Caribbean tour in March.

Kensington Palace is now advertising for a replacement to Ms Cockburn-Logie.

In the interim, Assistant Private Secretary Natalie Barrows is understood to have stepped up.

Each working member of The Royal Family has a Private Secretary who are effectively their principal’s right-hand man or woman.

On royal engagements, Private Secretaries accompany their designated royal on official visits and act as their eyes and ears on the ground.

The Private Secretary is a close adviser of their principal and the best interest of the royal will be central to everything they do.
