The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new foundation’s name has been revealed: Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. It will be known as Sussex Royal, Emily Andrews exclusively revealed.
The foundation was incorporated under the Companies Act of 2006 as a private company. It was registered on 1 July 2019 and has the company number 12077679.
Besides the Duke and Duchess, there will be two other directors, Sara Latham and Natalie Campbell, the latter of whom used to work as a staffer at the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
A source told The Sun, “Natalie is great and was already leading on much of the Sussexes’ work, so it was a natural progression.
“It’s part of the transition and how the Royal Foundation is helping the Sussexes set up their own thing.”
Protection of African lions is understood to be one of the first projects the charity will focus on.
It was revealed in May that Harry and Meghan would be breaking off from the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to create one of their own.
The split makes it easier to support charities close to their hearts as the Cambridges and Sussexes have very different paths in the future. Royal aides have, however, stressed that the group, known as the ‘Fab Four’, will still work together on projects even with separate charities.
The split has been a natural progression as William and Harry both have families and passion projects of their own. The brothers recently split households with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (and their three children – Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1) remaining at Kensington Palace while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and new baby Archie Harrison have moved to Buckingham Palace.
They also now have separate social media accounts with the Cambridges using the KensingtonRoyal handle on Twitter and Instagram while Harry and Meghan created their own, very popular, Instagram account under the handle SussexRoyal. So far, there have been no indications of a Twitter account for the Sussex family.
