Princess Anne and Family

Princess Anne was the busiest royal in 2018 having completed 518 engagements

The annual survey of the Royal Family’s public engagements has been released in the customary letter to the Times from the paper’s ‘unofficial royal archivist’, Tim O’Donovan, now on his 39th year of conducting the survey.

A total of 3,793 engagements were performed by the 15 members of the Royal Family classed as working royals within the Court Circular.

There has been an increase in productivity within The Royal Family this year, with a total of 3,628 engagement being undertaken in 2017.

The figures show that the Princess Royal has carried out the most engagements this year, clocking up a total number of 518.

Coming in just behind his sister with 507 engagements completed is the Prince of Wales.

The Earl of Wessex followed in 3rd place with 463 engagements, and then the Duke of York who completed 394 engagements in 2017.

This clearly shows that it is The Queen’s four children who are ensuring the smooth continuation of the monarchy for the time being.

The Duke of Cambridge conducted a total of 220 in 2018, an increase of 49 compared to the previous year.

The Duke of Sussex has seen the number of engagements he has conducted fall by 16 compared to 2017.

Missing from this year’s figures is the Duke of Edinburgh who is no longer a working royal. However, replacing him is the Duchess of Sussex who clocked up a total of 96 engagements this year.

The Queen has slightly decreased the total amount of engagements undertaken in 2018 compared to the previous year.
