Boy or girl: Duke of Sussex reveals his choice

While in Australia on Saturday, 21 October, the Duke of Sussex revealed his preference on having a girl or boy when his wife, the Duchess of Sussex gives birth in the spring of 2019.

As the Prince, who has made no secret of his desire to start a family, was walking by a group of well-wishers at the Invictus cycling event, one shouted to His Royal Highness that they hoped his first child was a girl. The Duke of Sussex asked for them to repeat their statement to which he responded, “So do I!”

Kensington Palace announced last week that the Duchess of Sussex was expecting her and the Duke’s first child.  The statement read, “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”

As their tour of Australia began, the Duke and Duchess received their first baby gifts, and not surprisingly, they looked delighted as the Duke was given baby sized Ugg boots and the Duchess was handed a stuffed kangaroo with a joey.

The jam-packed schedule in the first week has exhausted the Duchess of Sussex, and Kensington Palace announced that she would be scaling back some of her engagements during this tour to rest.

She did join Prince Harry for the last engagement of the day on Monday, 22 October. She is expected to travel to Fiji alongside her husband tomorrow and acknowledge the public in Albert Park from the balcony of the Grand Pacific Hotel in Fiji, just as The Queen did in 1953. A state dinner will follow in the evening.
