The Duchess of Cambridge has urged everyone to make the most of the time they have with their families as she penned an emotional letter of support for Children’s Hospice Week. Kate, who is patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice, spoke of her admiration for those caring for families facing what she called ”the toughest of futures” and called on people to thank those who help parents and children in such difficult circumstances.
Kate’s letter came at the start of Children’s Hospice Week which is held every year to raise awareness for children’s palliative care services. This year’s campaign has the theme of ”Moments that Matter”. The awareness week will run from June 17th until June 23rd 2019.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s full letter was also shared by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices. In it, Kate says that ”Children’s hospices provide vital sanctuaries for those experiencing the very toughest of times. They help families and carers build lifelong memories that are poignant, happy and often filled with laughter”.
Kate went on to refer to this year’s theme, adding ”it aims to make the most of the very precious time that those using hospice services have. Throughout the week we will hear amazing stories from families facing the toughest of futures. I hope that they will inspire each and every one of us to similarly make the most of the time we have with our own families, by ensuring every moment matters and that we create memories that last forever.”
The Duchess of Cambridge became patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice in 2012 and has visited it many times since. Kate has also visited children’s hospices and palliative care centres during her overseas tours including her visits to Singapore, New Zealand and Australia. Along with the Duke of Cambridge she has regularly shown her support for Children’s Hospice Week.
