Prince William hand delivers Prince George’s Christmas list to Santa

Prince William was tasked with one vital job on his second and last day of his royal tour to Finland- deliver Prince George’s Christmas wish list to Santa.

The Duke of Cambridge was on a quick trip to Finland to celebrate the nation’s 100th anniversary of independence.

On Thursday, Prince William met the jolly-man himself when at a Christmas market in Helsinki.

William did his fatherly duty, handing over the letter.

“I’ve seen you and I had to give you this letter,” the Duke said.

Laughing, he added: “He hasn’t written down many requests, so I think one request is probably ok.”

Prince George had circled that he had been ‘nice’ this year, over ‘naughty’. He only asked for a police car, despite the letter leaving spaces for five additional options.

Earlier in the day, Prince William received more gifts for his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. William was visiting Slush, the largest startup event in Europe. It was there that he was handed two beautifully handmade hobbyhorses.

Hobbyhorsing is a quickly growing fad in Finland where enthusiasts create the horses and ride them at events that mimic real equestrian events like show jumping or dressage.

Finland also hosts the annual Hobbyhorse Championships. The sport has around 10,000 participants in Finland alone.

The gifts were made by hobbyhorsing expert Alisa Aarniomäki and gifted to the Duke by Emma Rispoli from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. Prince George’s horse was dark grey and named Smokey after Prince William’s first horse. Princess Charlotte’s was a white pony with a blond mane named Snowflake.

Petra Theman, of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, said: “The Duke of Cambridge and his family are known for their love of horses, and with hobbyhorsing a huge phenomenon in Finland, what better present to take home to Prince George and Princess Charlotte than a pair of hobbyhorses tailored to their interests.”
