Sophie continues the late Queen’s legacy as she attends the Royal Windsor Horse Show

The Duchess of Edinburgh has continued to honour the equine legacy left behind by her late mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, as the 59-year-old attended the annual Royal Windsor Horse Show.

The equestrian show, which he held each year on the Windsor estate, was a favourite event of the late monarch.

She attended every year since 1943, until her death in 2022 – never missing a show.

The Duchess of Edinburgh joined her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, and the Princess Royal at the 2024 event.

In previous years, both Prince Edward, and the couple’s daughter Lady Louise, have competed at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in carriage riding competitions.

The late Queen Elizabeth watched on with pride in 2021 when she watched her youngest granddaughter compete in a carriage once owned by Prince Philip.

Queen Elizabeth also entered her own homebred horses in the various competitions, often finishing in first place, winning a rosette.
