Queen Camilla has joked that King Charles isn’t behaving himself as she spoke about how progress in His Majesty’s cancer treatment.
As she attended a garden party at Lamb House in Rye, East Sussex, Her Majesty said The King is getting better, before adding ”well, he would be if he behaved himself.’”
The Queen’s comments came as His Majesty ramped up his public facing engagements, just weeks after being given the go ahead to take on more duties by his doctors. King Charles had been restricted to private engagements for several months after beginning treatment for cancer earlier this year. His medical team decided in April that his progress had been good enough for him to start public facing engagements again. However, the initial gradual start has been replaced by a packed programme in recent days.
On Wednesday, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted the Creative Industries Garden Party at Buckingham Palace for over 4,000 people just hours after a church service.
Last week, His Majesty attended five separate engagements in a 48-hour-period.
On Wednesday, he and Queen Camilla attended an OBE service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in the morning prior to hosting the garden party.
The royal couple were joined by The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess of Gloucester at the garden party. This garden party was held to celebrate the achievements of those who have made significant contributions to the arts, fashion, heritage, film, music, and broadcasting.
The King will host three garden parties at Buckingham Palace this spring to highlight different areas of society, as well as one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh when he is in Scotland for Holyrood Week. Upwards of 30,000 combined guests will attend the parties.
