Princess Eugenie of York is 8th in line to the throne, however, she isn’t expected to lead a life of royal engagements or public duties.
If she were to marry Jack Brooksbank, a few things would change.
Firstly, it would be unlikely (but not completely impossible) that Mr Brooksbank would be granted a title by Her Majesty, meaning he would remain a commoner.
If he was granted a title, it would likely be a non-royal peerage such as an Earldom, though this in itself is unlikely, as previously explained.
Because a woman takes her husband’s style and precedence unless hers is higher, (which it is), her precedence will not be affected.
She may choose, however, to follow past precedent and style herself as Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie, Mrs Jack Brooksbank, or even just privately style herself as Mrs Brooksbank. Equally she may choose just to continue being Princess Eugenie.
Traditionally, female royals drop their territorial designation when they marry, so either way, she probably wouldn’t be referred to as Princess Eugenie of York any more (rather just Princess Eugenie).
It is highly unlikely that the wedding would be a public event like that of Princess Eugenie’s cousin, Prince William and his wife the Duchess of Cambridge, but likely to be a private family affair like that of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall.
Because Princess Eugenie is eighth-in-line to the throne, The Queen does not need to give her consent for her marriage to take place. This is reserved for members of the Royal Family who are sixth-in-line to the throne or higher. Similarly, if her sister Princess Beatrice got married, she would no longer have to seek permission from Her Majesty as Princess Charlotte’s birth pushed her to seventh-in-line.
What a joke, her mother, Fergie, who is a commoner, doesn’t want her daughter to marry a commoner ,a low class uneducated one at that.
Did She? And she confided in you? You must be thrilled..
No, I read about it in a previous article.
Don’t believe the garbage these sleazy tabloids print. It’s click bait trash.
But you haven’t said that I’m wrong.
Every article written states that both Andrew and Fergie absolutely adore Jack. He is and has been included many times over the years. He has been a guest of the Queen as well at Ascot.
Not sure what you are reading but I suspect it has a “yellow” tinge. Trash mags.
He is just a nice guy who happens to have fallen in love with a Royal…..Good Luck to him if he marries her, he will need it…..
You are wrong, so shutup……
It’s the gutterpress which causes all the problems for these people, they can invent whatever garbage they like and it is leaked to them from the Men in Grey (The Palace Aids) who are clearly jealous of their employer’s status and think themselves more royal than they are……It is time a law was passed to sue these newspaper’s who print damaging articles…….
Wow.. Nothing better to do than constantly read articles about people who you seem to think so little of? If I disliked someone I wouldn’t read articles about them then waste even more time and energy to comment negatively about them… People like you have never made sense to me……
I’m not critical of all the royals. You must have missed all the nice things that I’ve said about Princes Charles, William and Harry, also, Duchess Catherine.
Fergie was treated badly by the royal family and the press…..She was in love with Andrew, but decided not to be Royal as she was no good at it, she was too independent, was for ever being slated and slandered by someone and her self confidence hit an all time low, she bowed out gracefully, she was not pushed out, she left of her own accord to save her sanity……………We visited Sandringham and was informed by a guide there who knew the family well that the stories written about her were invented by the press people as it sold newspapers, photo’s were doctored and objects planted by palace aids, they destroyed the marriage……………they started picking on Sophie too, because she was commoner, but Edward put a stop to it……That is why the press have a different approach today, they have been warned…….Pity it was not like that in the late eighties and nineties, Sarah and Andrew would probably still be married today, they did a good job bringing up their daughters together and I do not think they have every really been apart……….The press and the men in grey at the palace have a lot to answer for…………..
I wouldn’t say the press has actually stopped their muck-raking. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are either expecting a third baby or they are about to get divorced, according to several online publications. It is almost like these publications like to run a Royal-style “Days of our Lives” breakfast serial.
The press seem to thrive on causing pain and suffering to folk and it should be stopped now….they should be heavily fined if they continue to print lies to boost sales, especially to the royals….
Sarah’s lover was an invention???
Sarah’s love was the Texan, Steve Wyatt, who kept in with her because of her title, he led her on letting her believe he wanted her to settle down with him in America, then dropped her, leaving her heartbroken, then he and his partner, Johnny Bryan cashed in on her by selling their stories about her, I am pleased to hear that they have both become bankrupt and had to flee the Country through shame, both got what they deserved,……She was very vulnerable at the time, very disillusioned with her lifestyle, unloved and wanted to break free, Steve was her escape from the unfeeling Royals, their aids and the press, but sadly it did not happen for her….. They are just a couple of lazy, social climbing playboys……She has always been unlucky in love and I feel sorry for her and hope that one day she will find true love and happiness with someone deserving…………..
I wouldn’t say that. Fergie is a descendant of a New South Wales governor back in the days when most such governors were Lord this and their wives were Lady that.
Princess Margaret married a commoner didn’t she. He then became Lord Snowden
Yes, but Margaret was closer to the throne than Eugenie is. Margaret was daughter and then sibling of a monarch. Eugenie will never be either of those. Granddaughter of a monarch is the closest she’ll ever be (barring a major catastrophy).
but Andrew is a sibling of a Monarch
Someone needs to take these girls home. They are just a waste of space. Sara was bragging about how “Successful ” they both are; what exactly do they do? Like for work?
What an awful thing to say. They both have jobs in the private sector.
Doing???????
Princess Eugenie works for Hauser & Wirth art gallery as an associate director.. Princess Beatrice is an Associate at Sandbridge Capital.. Not being close personal friends with either Princess B&E I can’t swear by this, but from my understanding this is the answer to your question,…
Valerie, you’re correct about both princess’ work. That information is readily available from a simple Google search, but apparently PennieP would rather complain than fact check her baseless claims.
Why are they always at some event or on a boat every time we see them?
Do they really get THAT much time off work to attend the Royal Functions?
Like THE TROOPING of THE COLORS, BELMONT, WIMBLEDON, etc..
Just seems odd they are in GB more than in NYC or LA, which is where I understand they are supposed to work.
Nothing to me really, I don’t have to support them, and it seems like Charles isn’t going to, either.
Thank you for your reply. It was very informative .. I’ll guess I should have googled it first…
Thank you, again for the post!
They are allowed time out to attend Royal Duties…….But they do both have jobs……
what exactly does an associate at sandbridge do nothing very hard i imagine neither of these women are likely to do much hard work they have hardly started at the bottomof the ladder who they are will always open doors for them
Quite right, it is one of the perks of being a Royal……..Don’t forget, years ago Royal’s especially the women were not allowed to work except for Charity Events and such like………….Life must have been very boring for them back then, endless holidays, the theatre, the races, shopping trips, lunches, teas, grand dinners, suppers, garden parties etc…..sigh !!!!
They do both have good jobs and no doubt work hard, but as they are Princess’s they are forced to be given time off to attend Royal Functions, it is their duty……Years ago, Royalty was not allowed to work because of this………….It is not their fault they were born into the Royal Family, they are humans the same as us, they are not down at the Dole Office signing on and acting as lazy layabouts, so leave them alone, Jack will decide for himself what he wants to do……
Princess Eugenie is the associate director of a London art gallery – I thought it was a museum- having worked in New York City for Paddle 8, an auction firm, and completed an internship with the Royal collection.
Which one had 6 ‘jobs in 5 years? The red- head or Andrew’s clone?
Work……
They do have jobs in the City, but firms usually take them on for who they are……looks good for the Business and they do take time off when they like, because they are Royal…….they have a great life……
I wonder how much Maternity leave or Bereavement days the ‘Normal ‘, non-royal folk get ?
Princess Eugenie is the associate director of a London museum, for at least a year and previously worked in New York City for Paddle 8, an auction firm.
“What would happen” in bed you mean? Actually, nothing. Even the commoner, Brooksbank, has some pride.
These royal females do not stand a chance of finding happiness because of who they are……Years ago they would have been married into Royal Households over the world, called arranged marriages, but now most of the foreign monarchies are extinct …..Marrying a commoner, for them, is a disaster waiting to happen due to protocol, it cannot be avoided, their prospective spouses will have to accept this, but it is unlikely that they will want too….
He obviously is fond of her or he wouldn’t be hanging around…………
She would prefer him to have a title, so that she may keep a privileged life – although Lady Helen Windsor and Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones are just plain Mrs……..It would be for the queen to decide as she is a grand daughter………The other Monarchs never gave grandchildren’s Spouse’s titles……..But for a commoner to marry into the firm they have be deeply in love or very strong willed to succeed………As Lord Snowden, Mark Phillip’s, Fergie and, Diana learned……Good luck to ever they marry…..
Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones is now Lady Sarah Chatto. Just saying.
Eugenie would stay a Princess, but I doubt if HM would give her hubby a title……I know Sarah and Helen prefer to be called just plain Mrs……
I can understand the PoW feeling like he does. I believe a slimmed down monarchy is what the slight majority of the public would want. However, we have to be realistic as well about the balance of workload for the future. Without wishing to be morbid it is highly likely HM The Queen, the DoE, The Gloucesters and all of the Kents will not be carrying out engagements in 10 years time, even if they are alive. Even if Prince Harry has married by then can just six members, Charles, Camilla, William, Kate, Harry and spouse carry out everything themselves? Yes we will still potentially have Anne, Andrew and Edward, but Charles, Camilla and Anne will be approaching 80 by then and their workload is bound to be lighter. It’s a perplexing dilemma.
Also William and Kate are workshy as well.
But they always seem to be in the Newspapers attending some event or other, so I do not think that they are workshy……….
They are even if they go once in a while
????? What do you mean? Kate is in the later stages of a difficult pregnancy. William gets out there.
They have always been workshy.
But as long as Prince Charles gets his own way he is happy…….One rule for him and one for the others……He is a Pompous, Arrogant, Spoiled Brat…………Hateful chap….
Slim down the monarchy but fatten up the aristocracy! Betty had been on the throne longer than Vicky and Vicky was most generous to all of her children and children’s children. It is the mysteries of all of this that keeps Americans and the rest of the world flocking to the center of the former British Empire. Warm up the printing press and let those Letters Patent FLY!
