Prince Andrew ‘accepts Virginia Giuffre has suffered’ and intends to make ‘substantial donation’ to her charity

The Duke of York accepts that Virginia Giuffre has suffered as a victim of abuse, US court papers show.

In reaching an out-of-court settlement, Prince Andrew has agreed settle with Ms Giuffre. The amount is not being disclosed.

A document filed in court further adds that Andrew will “make a substantial donation to Ms Giuffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights.”

The papers go on to read: “Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms Giuffre’s character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks.

“It is known that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked countless young girls over many years. Prince Andrew regrets his association with Epstein, and commends the bravery of Ms Giuffre and other survivors in standing up for themselves and others.

“He pledges to demonstrate his regret for his association with Epstein by supporting the fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims.”

Andrew was accused by Giuffre of sexually assaulting her when she was seventeen years old. The matter was due to be heard at a civil trial in the autumn of this year.

Giuffre alleges that she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein when she was 17 and that the Duke of York “committed sexual assault and battery” on her when she was a teenager.

The Duke of York has always strenuously denied the allegations against him.
