Who is Lady Gabriella Windsor – the soon to be bride?

Lady Gabriella Windsor is the daughter of Prince & Prince Michael of Kent and was born at St Mary’s Hospital Paddington on 23rd April 1981.

Gabriella, or Ella as she is known to family, has an elder brother, Lord Frederick Windsor who is married to Sophie Winkleman, the sister of Claudia, who will shortly be gracing our screens on Strictly Come Dancing. Frederick and Sophie married at Hampton Court Palace in 2009 and have two daughters. It will be interesting to see in the light of the news about Lady Gabriella’s engagement where she chooses to have her wedding.

Lady Gabriella was educated at Queen’s Gate School in London and Downe House School at Cold Ash near Newbury, Berkshire before passing a BA degree in Comparative Literature at Browne University in Providence, Rhode Island in May 2004. More recently in 2012, Lady Gabriella passed an MPhil degree in Social Anthropology from Linacre University in Oxford.

As well as being a Senior Director for Branding South America, a company which provides a platform for companies working in that region, she is also a Director of Playing for Change, a not-for-profit organisation concerned with global music and arts education, and Toucan Ventures which promotes creative entrepreneurs.

Lady Gabriella is also a freelance writer and contributes to several magazines including The London Magazine.

On Wednesday, Buckingham Palace announced her engagement to her long-term boyfriend, Thomas Kingston. The couple got engaged on the Channel Island of Sark last month, a little quieter than some which have occurred this week, the wedding is due to take place in the spring of next year.

Thomas Kingston is a good friend of Prince William and a former boyfriend of Pippa Middleton who he is still good friends with, he works as an investment banker with Devonport Capital.

Lady Gabriella does attend the occasional royal function and can be often seen at events including Trooping of the Colour, and she attended Pippa Middleton’s wedding. As Lady Gabriella is not directly related to The Queen, it is doubtful that the couple will be given a title come to the wedding next year.
