A special Jubilee tour has been created for Westminster Abbey, highlighting the links between the ancient church and The Queen.
The tour, called The Queen and Her Abbey, will highlight the many connections the Monarch has with Westminster, the site of some of the most famous moments in her historic reign.
It will include reflections on her wedding to Prince Philip at the Abbey in 1947 as well as detailed description and analysis of her Coronation in 1953.
The tour will also look at the special services that have been held in the church during The Queen’s reign and examine the many changes in Britain, the Commonwealth and the world through the past 70 years.
Visitors also get a chance to explore areas not usually accessible including St. George’s Chapel, where the Coronation Chair is kept. The tour also takes in The Queen’s Window, created in 2018 by David Hockney to mark Her Majesty’s reign.
It’s one of several special events at the Abbey to mark the Jubilee. Visitors are also being given a chance to ‘roam the roof’ for the first time, although tickets for that event are already sold out.
The special Jubilee tour costs £15 and is bookable now via the Abbey website.
