”We all miss you” – a personal message from the Prince and Princess of Wales on anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death

The Prince and Princess of Wales have issued an emotive message on the first anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

On the morning of September 8th 2023, the couple issued a personal social media message, signed with their initials, which said ”we all miss you”.

It was accompanied by images of Her Late Majesty and many of her great grandchildren.

Among the photos was one of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Louis enjoying Trooping the Colour together in 2022 during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Another of the pictures was the famous snap taken by the Princess of Wales at Balmoral in the summer of 2022 with Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by most of her great grandchildren.

The message from the Prince and Princess on the anniversary of Her Late Majesty’s death also said ”Today we remember the extraordinary life and legacy of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth.”

The couple are due to visit St. David’s in Wales on the anniversary itself where the heir to the throne is expected to speak about his grandmother and pay tribute to his father on the first anniversary of his accession.

As September 8th 2023 began, King Charles made a short speech, distributed on social media, in which he paid tribute to his mother, saying ”we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us.”

His Majesty also spoke of his own reign, adding ”I am deeply grateful, too, for the love and support that has been shown to my wife and myself during this year as we do our utmost to be of service to you all.”

Queen Elizabeth II died at 3.10pm on September 8th 2022 at Balmoral Castle. She had reigned for 70 years, 7 months and 2 days. She was succeeded immediately by her son, King Charles III.
