New details have been revealed about the Princess of Wales’s upcoming Together at Christmas carol service, including the attendance by members of the Royal Family.
Catherine and William will lead the royals at the annual carol service, which takes place on December 6th at Westminster Abbey, and will more than likely be accompanied by their children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Together at Christmas has typically been the last major engagement for the Wales Family before Christmas.
The Prince of Wales will be among the guest speakers who will give a reading, joining Sophie Okonedo, Michelle Dockery, Richard E. Grant, and Adam Petty, on the subject of love and empathy.
The Royal Family typically comes out in full force for Catherine’s carol service. The Duchess of Edinburgh, one of Catherine’s greatest supporters, attends every year. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester are also regular attendees; Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have attended and brought son Wolfie; Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, the Duke of Kent, Peter Phillips, and Zara and Mike Tindall have also all attended previous services.
Whether King Charles and Queen Camilla will attend remains to be seen. They attended the 2022 service, though its special theme around the late Queen Elizabeth II and her lifetime of service was likely a major component of their attendance.
The Royal Ballet, which counts the King as its patron, will perform for guests.
This year’s Together at Christmas carol service is themed around love and empathy, “and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives,” according to Kensington Palace and among the guests mingling with members of the Royal Family will be people from all over the United Kingdom who have led with love and empathy in their own communities.
A Kindness Tree will be on display outside the doors of Westminster Abbey for guests to add dedications to ornaments in honour of people who have helped and supported them in their lives.
In a message to guests, Catherine writes: “Across the United Kingdom, there are so many inspiring people embracing those in need. They have provided comfort, counsel, and connection, and above all else they have shown that love unites and strengthens us all.
“This Carol Service is a heartfelt celebration of every one of you, and a reminder that at Christmas, and throughout the year, we must all shine for each other. Because in times of joy and sadness, we are all each other’s light.”
Together at Christmas will air on Christmas Eve on ITV.
