The Princess of Wales to miss this year’s Earthshot Prize to support Prince George at important time at school

Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Princess of Wales won’t be at the Earthshot Prize ceremony this autumn for family reasons.

The Princess will stay behind to support Prince George who has school exams at the same time as the awards event.

This year’s Earthshot takes place in Singapore on November 7th with the Prince of Wales handing out the prizes.

Fifteen nominees are up for five prizes worth one million pounds each to help them scale up their environmental projects. This year’s finalists were announced by the Prince of Wales during his visit to New York in September.

Prizes are awarded in the categories of Protect and Restore Nature, Clear our Air, Revive our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World and Fix our Climate.

The Princess has accompanied Prince William to the two previous finals. In 2021, the event took place in London while the 2022 celebration was in Boston in the United State.

Prince George, who turned 10 in July, is now in Year 6 and looking to a time when he will move from primary to secondary education.
