The Prince & Princess of Wales thank volunteers and staff in Windsor following The Queen’s death

The Prince and Princess of Wales have thanked volunteers and operational staff in Windsor who were involved in events surrounding Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

Their Royal Highnesses met some of the people who helped organise the Committal Service in St George’s Chapel which saw The Queen’s coffin lower into the Royal Vault.

Prince William and Catherine also thanked some of the many volunteers who supported the crowds that gathered on The Long Walk to commemorate Her Majesty’s passing.

The viewing areas on The Long Mile reached full capacity on the day of the funeral – with an estimated 100,000 people lining the road outside Windsor Castle.

A further 50,000 people were able to be accommodated into an overspill area in another part of Windsor where the funeral procession and Committal Service could be watched on big screens.

The Prince & Princess of Wales and their three children moved to Windsor from Kensington Palace just a few weeks ago.

The family us understood to have wanted a life away from busy Central London, with Windsor providing the ideal place to raise a family.

Adelaide Cottage, located just a stones throw away from Windsor Castle, is the family’s new home.
